Dear Snooze Guru

I just moved into a studio apartment, and it’s a pretty cramped place. I’m trying to balance the vibe between bedroom and living room, but it’s tough with the limited amount of space. I do a fair bit of my work at home, so I’d really like to have a desk in there. My kitchen table isn’t really conducive to diligent working. Do you have any suggestions for a desk that won’t take up a lot of space, but will still be large enough for me to stay organized while I work?

Jack from Shreveport, LA

Dear Jack,

Thank you for your letter. It can certainly be a challenge to furnish a studio apartment. You don’t want it to look like just a bedroom, but you also don’t have too much room for furniture that’s typically seen in living rooms. Since you work from your apartment, it makes a lot of sense to have a desk to use as a permanent work space. When you work at your kitchen table, you have to pack everything up at the end of the day. This can make it difficult to stay organized and productive. Fortunately there are some desks that take up minimal space while still allowing for storage and organization. I’m fond of wall mount desks like the one pictured above. Wall mount desks are kind of like a Murphy bed for desks. You can pull it down while you’re working, and then close it up when you’re done. Most wall mount desks have plenty of room for a lap top, and many of them come with drawers and storage compartments that help you stay organized.

Corner desks are also a good option for work space in a small room. The fit right into the corner of your wall, making the most of what is often wasted space. Corner desks often have deeper drawers than wall mount desks, so if you plan on storing a lot of work material in your desk, then a corner desk might be a better option for you.

You can find wall mount desks, corner desks, and a variety of other small desks when you shop with US-Mattress. Don’t let your small living space keep you from living your life. Head to US-Mattress, and create the kind of space that you’re happy to call home.

Sleep Well,
